  10. Campbell Services Inc.'s OnTime v2.22 and OnTime for Windows v1.25
  11. (both network versions) are compatible with LANtastic NOS version
  12. 4.xx and 5.xx.

  14. Product Overview
  15. OnTime lets you schedule appointments and maintain the calendar for
  16. a workgroup. The main screen of OnTime displays a day planner and
  17. a narrow box that shows at a glance occupied blocks of time during
  18. the day. Most of the program's functions can be accessed through a
  19. handful of push-button keys at the bottom of the screen, which
  20. includes adding and deleting appointments, adding and attaching
  21. notes, rescheduling appointments, searching for keywords, printing
  22. a calendar and replacing the day planner with either a week-at-a-
  23. glance or a month-at-a-glance view. In addition to appointments, it
  24. also allows you to maintain to-do lists. To-do items can be
  25. prioritized and set to automatically roll over until marked
  26. completed.

  28. The network version supports group scheduling (on a group
  29. calendar), including notification to the individual that an
  30. appointment has been added to his or her calendar. Each user can
  31. maintain the access rights of other users to his/her private
  32. calendar, and s/he can belong to different groups to gain access to
  33. the group calendars. OnTime produces tri-fold/duplex reports that
  34. combines different formats and views of the schedule on one page.

  36. Product Installation Notes
  37. OnTime comes with a slim manual which covers installation on LANs
  38. in general, but a document explaining how to set up OnTime on a
  39. LANtastic network is available on request from Campbell Services'
  40. Tech. Support. Installation is very automated, and the Windows
  41. version offers to install OnTime in your list of Windows programs
  42. loaded at startup and modify your win.ini. 
  43.  
  44. OnTime must be installed onto a drive that can be accessed by all
  45. users and must have the same drive designator for all users,
  46. including the server. However, a server with files required to
  47. initialize or shutdown Windows should not remap any of its local
  48. drives to network drives, or else Windows will lock up on the logo
  49. screen during initialization. Instead the DOS SUBST command should
  50. be used, e.g. SUBST d: c:\ontime.

  52. Executable files in the \ONTIME directory must be set to read-only
  53. by the DOS ATTRIB command. After installation, you will need to add
  54. users to the system through the SETUPNET(for DOS) or WSETUPN(for
  55. Windows) utility. Each user's access can be password'ed. DOS SHARE
  56. is required on the server but not the workstations.

  58. Memory requirement for OnTime's TSR, OTLOAD, is 15k when in
  59. background, 380k when in foreground. It cannot be loaded high with
  60. the DOS loadhigh command, or with any of the popular memory
  61. managers.

  63. Product Execution Notes
  64. To invoke OnTime, type ONTIME or OTLOAD for DOS, or click on the
  65. icon set up to run OTWIN.exe for Windows. It will then prompt you
  66. for the user name. The loader will swap itself to EMS memory if
  67. available. It was noticed that OnTime for Windows' alarm tunes may
  68. not play to completion when running in Windows. This is due to a
  69. minor problem with the LANtastic redirector. A workaround is also
  70. available which needs to turn off network bleeping altogether, but
  71. in most cases users will not need to worry about this cosmetic
  72. problem and the impact to the usage of the product is minimal.

  74. There is a known problem for OnTime for Windows running on a
  75. LANtastic network (internal tracking number T01870). When running
  76. OnTime for Windows on a workstation and the server unexpectedly
  77. goes down (due to power outage, rebooting, etc.), the workstation
  78. returns Windows' "The network has become unstable" screen. It may
  79. also be locked up as a result. Campbell Services and Artisoft are
  80. still investigating the problem.
